PROJECTS
Matter & Energy from Tannery sludges
The M.E.T.A. project aims to address the management of wastewater treatment sludge from Tuscany’s leather tanning sector by evaluating energy or material recovery strategies designed to make the entire treatment and production cycle more sustainable. At the same time, it analyses other types of organic waste from the sector in order to identify possible management and energy synergies.
The objective is to provide the leather tanning district, and more generally the Tuscan and national context, with a technical-scientific and practical analysis of the recovery potential of waste streams for which current solutions are still open to improvement. The ultimate aim is to define a new green economy model, based on cooperation between companies, technologies, and end users, also with a view to developing new business activities through collaboration between Tuscan companies and qualified research organisations.
