Analysis Laboratory

The Consorzio Aquarno Laboratory, located within the wastewater treatment plant, is a key asset for ensuring efficient and accurate operational control across the various facilities managed by the Consortium.

The facility has implemented a Quality Management System compliant with the UNI EN ISO 9001 standard, adopting procedures aimed at process control and the continuous improvement of the effectiveness and efficiency of the analytical service.

The system was audited by the third-party body Certiquality, one of Italy’s most prestigious certification bodies, and obtained the relevant certification.

The analysis laboratory plays an essential role in the management of the wastewater treatment plant, as it enables close monitoring of the efficiency of the various treatment stages through the application of specific analytical protocols. In addition to checking a wide range of chemical parameters, such as COD, metals, salinity, and more, in recent years the laboratory has been enhanced with an area dedicated to microbiological analyses, where qualified personnel carry out tests that make it possible to identify the health status of the microorganisms responsible for biological treatment (sludge).

Supervision of the activities is entrusted to the Laboratory Manager, who coordinates the various operations carried out within the facility: from planning the analyses, to checking the results, to scheduling technical interventions, as well as tests and experimental activities.

The laboratory also plays a key role in the Chromium Recovery plant, where it analyses incoming deliveries, monitors the various stages of waste treatment, and carries out a preliminary check of the finished product (which is then certified by a third-party laboratory).

For each facility, the laboratory also checks the quality of the various liquid reagents purchased.

EXPERIMENTAL TESTS

In addition to its routine activities of monitoring the entire treatment chain and carrying out the related analyses, the Consorzio Aquarno laboratory is also involved in performing specific tests aimed at evaluating products or treatments alternative to those currently in use, as well as in directly participating in Research and Development projects. In fact, the laboratory has been equipped with dedicated workstations for exploratory tests, fitted with auxiliary instruments purchased through research projects, which, integrated with the existing analytical equipment, make it possible to carry out a wide range of experimental activities.
