Our Projects

Consorzio Aquarno has always shown a strong interest in seeking innovative solutions aimed at improving the efficiency of the treatment process, enhancing the biodegradability of wastewater, achieving a reduction in sludge production, and more.

Over the years, and still today, the Consortium has taken part and continues to take part in numerous regional and European research projects. Experimental activities are carried out with the essential contribution of the technicians and professionals working across the Company’s various sectors.

The Consortium also seeks to take advantage of opportunities created by public administrations by participating in calls for proposals and funding programmes aimed at introducing improvements and innovations into its processes.

ReVoc4Life

Pilot plant for VOC recovery through reversible adsorption on sintered granulate from sewage sludge treatment – LIFE20 ENV/IT/000688

The aim of the ReVOC4LIFE project is to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of an innovative and more environmentally sustainable technological process that enables companies in the leather tanning district to fully comply with European Directives on emissions. The objective is to maintain an optimal balance between product performance and reduced environmental impact, while generating a positive economic impact.
LIFE I’M TAN

Innovative Modified Natural Tannins – LIFE20 ENV/IT/000759

The project aims to demonstrate, on a semi-industrial scale, the use of chemically modified natural tannins (CMNT) in the production of eco-friendly leather across a wide range of items, from footwear to leather goods.
M.E.T.A.

Matter & Energy from Tannery sludges

The M.E.T.A. project aims to address the management of wastewater treatment sludge from Tuscany’s leather tanning sector by evaluating energy or material recovery strategies designed to make the entire treatment and production cycle more sustainable. At the same time, it analyses other types of organic waste from the sector in order to identify possible management and energy synergies.
INNODEPUR

Development and testing of innovative solutions for wastewater treatment processes and solid residue treatment

The INNODEPUR project, promoted by Aquarno in collaboration with the Consorzio Polo Tecnologico Magona (CPTM), aims to evaluate innovative solutions to reduce environmental impacts and maximise energy and material recovery.
ACQUA360

Closed-loop water cycle for the leather tanning industry: from wastewater to process water.

The ACQUA360 project involves the construction of a pilot plant for the advanced treatment of civil wastewater, aimed at producing process water to be supplied to three representative Tuscan tanneries, which will test its use throughout the entire production cycle.
